This is absolutely wonderful and has inspired to pull mine back out... it's currently in a UFO naughty corner 😂 happy stitching and thank you for the mention ❤❤
😂The UFO naughty corner hahahaha (I have a corner like that LOL😂) LOVE your channel! We should do some "live" slow sewing together this winter!🥶 ( thesewingchannel33@gmail.com )
Oh, after watching Rachel, I ordered the templates. I have sewn one using the sewing machine and have two hand-sewing ones on the go. I will be eagerly watching your progress.
God bless hand sewists! I've got a short attention span, unfortunately, but I'm excited to see the whole finished project. I like your portable ironing board 💕
You are such a good teacher👏. I love the fact that you are not perfect all the time! A little stitch mark on the bottom?... who cares if there's a little woops here or there! Truly not a big deal, and that's what shows it was made with love. My great grandmother taught me to sew when I was seven or eight. I still remember her telling me to take pride in a nice even stitch, but not worry if i misses one❤. Thank you for all your videos!!
These are really cute Tracy!! In the winter I love having sone hand sewing in the evening so I can watch TV with hubby. QAYG just seems so rewarding too. When you’re done… you really are done!!
If you aren't quick enough and the glue starts to dry just add a "huff" of a breath on it. Opened mouth breath is moist enough to refresh the glue. I think I will do this. I have a bag of 'English garden" fabrics that I have been waiting to do a quilt with
Enjoyed the tutorial! I also watch Stitching with Rachel. I made a small Brick Quilt after watching Rachel’s tutorial. You gave some good tips to make the process easier! Thanks for leaving your mistakes in the video! It makes me feel better about my own mistakes.
It’s exactly how I do a corner section with hand sewing. I hand quilted 25 mug rugs for a ladies retreat as we drove 2 states over to watch our 2 grandsons baptism… I took a lipped tray to hold my things and used the tray with hard spots to get through….bc I don’t like thimbles. Thank you for being so real with us. I am not a pro but I love when there is something a little off in my work. It’s not an excuse… it’s love.
I’ve been hand appliquéing for more than 40 years and I’m also right handed - you might try turning your piece around so you are looking over the edge and not into the edge. It’s really easier this way - why I haven’t a clue😃😃😃. And maybe taking just a slightly smaller bite! I’m not trying to criticize, just giving you a different way. I was taught by an expert (she even wrote books in appliqué but has gone to quilter’s heaven). And I love your board and the egg shape and size! Time to look for a smaller board as mine is great for at home but it’s a little on the large size to drag around! Oh, and I use an iPad so have been taking screen shots since my memory is also shot!!🫢🫢
I am new to your channel but I am in LOVE with this video!! It literally had everything I ever wanted to know about QAYG and didn't know to ask! I just recently watched the Quilting with Rachel videos on this technique but my gosh you made it dummy proof! Thank you! I am about to bust my stash on a million of these. lol
I wish I had seen this video first. I've done it with stitch basting first but it got old. Then I did pin basting. I will be using this technique for my next one.
I actually ordered these templates a year ago from Erica and Grace in England. I have been making the quilt with a beige Robert Kaufman cotton for the back and batik scraps. I'm absolutely loving it!
I just ordered the templates…I love that the size of the pretty fabric and batting is 2.5”x5” and 2.5”x2.5” a great way to use up jelly roll, charm squares and batting scraps…I have a similar lap work board that I’m going to add a sleeve to…as always great tips!
I like this much better than the tiny grandmothers flower garden I"m workign on right now. It's so small I can't see it half the time. However, I think I could do this. Great fabric :) and video.
Way easier to see this when sewing! I forgot to mention where my fabric came from LOLOLOL...on my next video I will for sure. This Tilda fabric is PERFECT for this quilt!!!❤️Love ya!!!!
What a fun project. My mind is going nuts with all the possibilities. I will say the threaded bobbins were pricier than I expected. But ordered most of your suggestions. I think I'll be doing these over the Holiday's watching Hallmarks movies. Love them.
I started one like this a few months ago using the “Light-hearted” line and love it! I have 7 blocks of 8 so far. Great winter project! Thank you for sharing some tips.
I like using a 9x15 flexible cutting board for food from the dollar store to work on. cleans up easy and saves my cutting matting which is permanently on my work table.
Two yrs ago, I purchased a Tilda quilt kit called Best Friends. After looking at that pattern a few times, I knew I wasn’t going to make it. So I’ve been searching for just the right project that shows off that fabric. This is it! I enjoy hand stitching. Can’t wait to get started!
Hi Tracy! Thanks for another great tutorial! When you're coming back up for the next stitch if you grab the excess thread and hold it to the left the stitch wont be so slanted.
I use a padded board designed for using a laptop on your lap. One side is hard and the other is padded. For hand stitching, I flip it to the padded side - works great for at at-home projects but too big for car/plane.
Thank you for taking us on your journey. When stitching on the border, may I suggest blind hem? And for joining bricks, try the ladder stitch. Neither are difficult, particularly for you and your skill level ❤
Thank you so much for this video. I follow Rachel and got the fabric and templates but never made the brick wall quilt. I'm excited to sew along with you ❤
This one is gonna be pretty when completed. You have so much patience to hand sew. I’ve never learned any hand sewing stitches but I think it’s time I get out of my comfort zone. 🫣 happy to say I do have some of those self threading needles already. 👏 🤞🤞
I'm still very new to hand sewing. Once I realized how relaxing it was to hand sew and wind down in the evening...I WAS HOOKED!LOL🤣 You really should try it♥️
Loved the video and will be adding this to my must makes! I have a questions to both you and any followers out there. I have my (40yr old) wedding dress I would love to make a wall hanging using parts of the beaded embellishments and a throw size quilt using the fabric that does not have any embellishments. Any tips, tricks when using this type of fabric with cottons, (ie: do I use stabilizer on the back of the dress before cutting, etc) Any suggestions on Blocks or patterns to use for these two types of projects would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone who has advice for these projects.
This is a really cute pattern. I wish I could still hand sew, but with my carpel tunnel being so bad, I can’t hold the needle to perform the stitches. I am going to try to machine stitch them. Thank you for the video Tracy!
I love this project1 just ordered the templates that will be delivered tomorrow. I need a slow sewing project for while I'm sitting still, and this looks perfect! Thank you for the links to the templates you used and for writing up a pattern!
I am going to try this, but I think that I might have to combine the hand stitching with some machine embroidery Depends on how much my hands want to cooperate. my youngest daughter, who is 19, and I have been wanting to try hand stitching/ Embroidery, and I think this will be perfect for us
OK so I appreciate the time you spend making all your videos. That being said, the entire idea of this type of "quilting" is that you dont need any special tools or templates and anyone that can hand sew can basically do it. I grew up making these type of block quilts and you are way over thinking this and making something so simple exceedingly complicated. You simply cut your center fabric and batting the same size and your backing fabric one inch larger, place your fabric and batting in the center of your backing fabric, fold over 1/4" twice and use one or two clips on each side and stitch down. No glue, not template, no tweezer. As you said, everyone should do things that make them happy, but you should also let people know that all the expensive time consuming products are a choice not a need.
Thank you for this reminder - I’ve purchased items from here a while ago and have just forgotten! She has some great and different shapes for EPP (English paper piecing for others!).
Hi I love your way of sewing. I downloaded your free pattern for the slow sew. It doesn't open. It keeps saying an error with code 404. Is there something I am doing wrong?
So fun..... Thanks for sharing this. Checking out Stitch with Rachel as well.I have a Fun and Done template for quilt as you go. Today i have done my first slow sew 7.5 square. I will be slow sewing a few of these as Christmas gifts for everyone 😏
Not winter, NNOOOOoooo. Not yet, pleeeeaase. I don't know about yours but ours lasts 6 months so nobody is in a hurry. I guess I would have enough time for this project.
I be,o g to a hand work group at my guild and I’ve been running out of ideas for new projects (we’ve been together probably close to 15 years!)!! I just printed out the directions and bought the templates!!🫢🫢🫢. Thank yiu for something new!
Great job. I don't do hand stitching 4 several reasons, however, your showing basics was inspiring to many.
This is absolutely wonderful and has inspired to pull mine back out... it's currently in a UFO naughty corner 😂 happy stitching and thank you for the mention ❤❤

I have one of these started. Yellow brick road style. Wizard of Oz fan here. Great tips for the corners!
I love Rachel. Her voice is so soothing
I think so too❤️
OMG I love this! I'm going to try and join and stick with it. Work is kind of stressful. But this would be so fun and beautiful.
God bless hand sewists! I've got a short attention span, unfortunately, but I'm excited to see the whole finished project. I like your portable ironing board 💕

Wow. Thank you for the tips for appliqué stitches. I appreciate it as I self taught myself by watching others. Your tips are so helpful♥️

I also have this ready for winter I used left over batik strips.
I love your sparkle nails. This is a great project. I am doing a Cathedral Windows. Your lap board is an excellent idea. Stealing it.😅❤😊

I enjoyed this video so much! Thank you for your time❤. OH, I do watch Rachel! She is one very talented young lady😊
I think I’ll give this a try. A nice change from hexies all the time.
I never could thread an easy thread needle. That looks like a very slow project. It will be pretty when it is finished. Thank you.

I adore Rachel’s channel as well! I have those templates also, i need to gather up and organize a winter slow stitch project and you have inspired me!
I use a padded board designed for using a laptop on your lap. One side is hard and the other is padded. For hand stitching, I flip it to the padded side - works great for at at-home projects but too big for car/plane.
I love hand quilting and this is an awesome method. You are a breath of fresh air! Your channel is the best 🥰
Thank you for taking us on your journey. When stitching on the border, may I suggest blind hem? And for joining bricks, try the ladder stitch. Neither are difficult, particularly for you and your skill level ❤
That is a great stitch option✅
Thank you for some wonderful tips. I just cut out some hexagon with a similar ruler. Your tips are going to make it easier.
Have fun everyone interesting technique❤
Enjoyable tutorial thank you for sharing with us
Thank you for sharing this fabulous idea! I love hand sewing!
Thank for sharing this inspiring video!❤
I fold my corners when I do this technique. I love making baby quilts using this method.
There's something about having a needle in my hands. Thank you Tracy!
Did you say “HAND SEWING & ENJOYABLE” in the same sentence? Ugh! lol This is really cute! I’ll enjoy from a distance. ❤
Another excellent hand piecer channel is Emma Jones Vintage Sewing Box
That looks relaxing. Might have to try that
I love this! Where do you fine your bobbin thread?
Thank you so much for this video. I follow Rachel and got the fabric and templates but never made the brick wall quilt. I'm excited to sew along with you ❤

Better than tiny 1 1/2” piecing but still too small for me! 😂
Thank you.

Take it nice and slow❤️

You're going to LOVE it!
Mine too!!!
Try tucking your thread in the part of the binding it might hide the stitches better. Instead of going up into the binding so far.
Wow, this looks so fun!
Is there a way to fold the backing tominer the corners
Penelope's Chinwag episode 123 on utube shows the lovely quilt she made this way..
Thanks!
Wow thank you so much for supporting my channel. I appreciate you very much❣️
saw someone measure marks on thumb so measure their stitches, I never tried this but looked good anyway .
Much too tedious for me but I’m still excited to see the finished quilt! ❤
Watch the Stitch With Rachel video. I love her process & you may change your mind.
I am going to try this, but I think that I might have to combine the hand stitching with some machine embroidery Depends on how much my hands want to cooperate. my youngest daughter, who is 19, and I have been wanting to try hand stitching/ Embroidery, and I think this will be perfect for us

I'm doing one of those too...😍🥰
Awesome❄️
❤❤
You're actually quilting with embroidery floss 😊 . So quilt as you go..kinda.

Wow! Dressed for winter??? Still warm here in central California!
LOL🤣 The thumbnail is in anticipation of some blustery winter weather to come LOLOLOL🥶❄️
Elise Baek sells these and other quilt as you go templates.
Great project but I don’t have the patience or hand strength to hand sew.
❤
I put a piece of plastic under my material when using the glue stick. If I don't, I end up getting it all over my cutting mat, and that's not good.
Where to buy the templates? I searched your links and I didn’t see a link for the templates; I might’ve missed seeing it.

🥰
I’m on my iPhone right now. Where can I find how to purchase the template. I love this project.

So fun..... Thanks for sharing this. Checking out Stitch with Rachel as well.I have a Fun and Done template for quilt as you go.
Today i have done my first slow sew 7.5 square. I will be slow sewing a few of these as Christmas gifts for everyone 😏
Way to go!
Not winter, NNOOOOoooo. Not yet, pleeeeaase. I don't know about yours but ours lasts 6 months so nobody is in a hurry. I guess I would have enough time for this project.
LOL😂🥶❄️ Just wanted to give you a head start LOL
Why don't you use pins or clips instead of glue?
When hand sewing these, the thread gets annoyingly wrapped around the pins and clips. Much more enjoyable glue basting:)
The instructions won't open for me. What can I do to get it please
Try opening it the file from your email✅
I’m having a hard time finding pre wound metal bobbins, they’re all plastic:o/
Check the link in info box below video✅
Downloaded the pattern, but it doesn't open!
Try opening it from your email? or in a different browser🤷🏻♀️
Put your glue in the freezer it will last longer
Why don't you hide you stiches under the white fabric.
It's an applique stitch✅
IMHO NO sane person sews by hand. ROFL
Those are so cute. I’d like to see your finished project someday.
I be,o g to a hand work group at my guild and I’ve been running out of ideas for new projects (we’ve been together probably close to 15 years!)!! I just printed out the directions and bought the templates!!🫢🫢🫢. Thank yiu for something new!
I am so glad you found something new to work on! You're gonna LOVE this! ❤️
